A Brief History of Ferrari

The first Ferrari car was made in the year 1947, and this was a Ferrari 120 S. The 120 S was powered by a 60-degree V12 engine and had a top speed of 160 kmph. By the end of the decade, a new model bearing the name of 166 Inter was introduced.

This car was powered by a 2.6-liter V12 engine which helped it to reach a top speed of 280 km/h. The early eighties saw the launch of the 308 GTB and the Berlinetta Boxer. These cars were able to reach a top speed of 330 kmph and had a power of 290 hp. The current and latest model of the Ferrari is the 888 GTB.

Maranello Factory and Test Track

Ferrari cars are produced at the company’s plant in Maranello, Italy. The company has a manufacturing plant with a land area of 14,700 square meters. The plant was opened for business in 1985, and the production of the latest models of Ferrari started from this facility. The plant is divided into two distinct sections – one for the production of cars and the other for the production of engines.

The production of Ferrari cars is done in the manufacturing unit named the Engine Building Unit. The engine of a Ferrari car is manufactured in this section and then sent to the manufacturing unit for final assembly. The finished cars are tested on the Fiorano race track which is owned by Ferrari. The track has two sections – one for testing Ferraris and the other for testing other car brands. Apart from this, the Fiorano race track is also used for many motorsports events.
